As experienced lawyers in handling divorce cases in Bali, we inevitably also handle many cases of child custody disputes where one of the parties is a WNA (Foreign Citizen). One example of a case where our client is a Russian citizen, was sent a letter of somasi (Legal Warning Letter) by the lawyer of his wife who is an Indonesian citizen. A simple example of a reply to a letter of somasi is as follows:

In connection with the 3rd Response and Summons Letter from Partner dated June 5, 2025 with No. XXXXX, then we, the legal counsel for our client (XXXXX) can provide an answer/reply to the partner’s summons as follows:
- That in principle we remain on our previous response to the summons;
- That we, the attorneys, have heard the wishes of our client who wants to resolve this issue so that it does not drag on in the media of exchanging summons letters, so that our Client offers the Partner Client for the last time 3 (three) points which will be mentioned below:
- That our client is willing to make a custody agreement for a child named XXXXX through a Notary Deed appointed by our client, namely on Monday to Wednesday for 1 (one) week to be cared for by the Partner Client, and Thursday to Sunday to be cared for by our Client. That the making of the Deed of Agreement at the Notary is carried out 7 (seven) days since the letter was received by the Partner. If during that time, no Deed of Agreement is made at the Notary, then our Client will provide full care for the child named XXXXX to our partner client, but our client requests access to meet Allex William Dougall, namely 2x (twice) a week;—————————-
- That regarding the Elite Villa Building object located in the child named XXXXX, Canggu Village, North Kuta, Badung, our Client requests a lease sale of the building where the proceeds from the lease sale are divided 2 (two) equally:
- That our client asks our client partner to no longer contact our client via email, telephone, via social media and so on, because our client feels disturbed by it. Our client partner has appointed our partner as his legal representative, of course communication can be done between legal representatives.
